Welcome to Guiding Light for Tranquil Waters (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a counseling practice owned and operated by licensed professional counselor Summer Post. By accessing or using our website, services, or resources (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to comply with these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Services.

1. Services Provided

Guiding Light for Tranquil Waters provides professional counseling and therapy services, educational content, and related resources. All clinical services are provided by licensed counselor Summer Post, or by individuals operating under her supervision, in accordance with applicable laws, licensing requirements, and professional standards.

2. Eligibility

By using our Services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or, if under 18, you have obtained appropriate parental or legal guardian consent in accordance with applicable laws. Therapy services are provided only to individuals legally able to consent to treatment in their jurisdiction.

3. Professional Disclaimer

Information provided through our Services is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Use of this website, including communication with Summer Post via forms, email, or other methods, does not establish a therapist-client relationship. A formal therapeutic relationship is only established after completion of required intake procedures, informed consent, and mutual agreement between you and Summer Post to begin services.

4. Client Responsibilities

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information necessary for treatment.
  • Attend scheduled sessions or provide appropriate notice of cancellation.
  • Participate actively in therapy and communicate concerns as needed.

5. Privacy and HIPAA Compliance

We are committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your Protected Health Information (“PHI”) in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and applicable state laws.

  • Any PHI collected through our Services will be used, stored, and disclosed only as permitted by HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.
  • We implement administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your information.
  • PHI will not be disclosed without your written authorization except as required or permitted by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, abuse reporting requirements, court orders, or healthcare operations).
  • Electronic communications (e.g., email or messaging with Summer Post) may carry some risk; by using such methods, you acknowledge and accept these risks unless secure alternatives are requested.

A full Notice of Privacy Practices is available upon request and governs how your health information is used and disclosed.

6. Payment and Fees

Payment terms, including session fees and accepted methods, will be provided prior to services. Payment is due as agreed. Missed or late-canceled appointments may be subject to a cancellation fee consistent with our policies and applicable law.

7. Website Use

You agree to use our website and Services lawfully and responsibly. You may not:

  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems, servers, or data.
  • Transmit unlawful, harmful, or rights-violating content.
  • Interfere with the security or functionality of the Services.

8. Third-Party Links

Our Services may include links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of those external sites.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guiding Light for Tranquil Waters and Summer Post shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the Services or reliance on provided information. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law
